Psychological Services
Psychological services offered at Perspectives are specialized and
based on the needs of the client. Clinicians collaborate with clients
in determining needs and goals for therapy. A number of therapeutic
techniques can be utilized. We offer traditional "talk therapies." In
addition, experiential interventions including art and activity therapy
and skills-based training in the areas of social skills, parenting,
communication, etc. may be utilized. We offer play therapy for young
children, which allows them to address their issues in a
developmentally appropriate manner. Perspectives offers support and
interventions to individuals, couples, and families of all shapes and
sizes.
In addition to various therapeutic interventions, Perspectives also
offers Life Coaching, Developmental Assessments, and Psychological
Evaluations.
Behavioral Services
Many challenges facing individuals and families are behavioral in
nature. All behaviors serve a purpose whether it is to communicate
needs on a more basic level (when verbal communication is ineffective),
to have needs met (such as seeking attention from others), or to
protect us from real or perceived harm (avoiding tasks, hiding). As a
result, Perspectives is prepared to offer interventions designed to
address challenging behaviors.
Perspectives offers direct instruction and support to families facing
these behavioral challenges. Behavioral interventions require family
support and interventions are designed to address both the individual
with the behavioral issues as well as the family members impacted by
the behaviors.
Educational Services
Perspectives offers assistance within the school systems either through
direct interaction with the staff when supported by the school
including classroom observations or indirectly through individual
sessions designed to address educational concerns. In addition, staff
members are available to attend Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
meetings, Student Support.Team (SST) meetings, and informal meetings
with school staff to assist in the success and progress of the student.
Staff members are qualified to design Behavioral Intervention Plans
(BIPs) and train school personnel on the implementation of the BIP.
Functional Behavior Assessments/Analysis (FBAs) may be analyzed to
address significant behavioral concerns.
Staff members are also available to serve as educational consultants.
Reviews of past and current IEPs, BIPs, and FBAs are used to offer
suggestions on how to improve these documents and interventions within
the school setting. |
